Infants

6 weeks to 1 year

Infants in our vibrant classroom reach new milestones as they are personally introduced to social interactions, body awareness, and motor control. During one-on-one time with his or her teacher, your baby will strengthen their language acquisition through the use of educational toys and mimicry.

Developmental Milestones

Language/Communication:

  • Uses simple gestures, like shaking head “no” or waving goodbye

  • Makes sounds with changes in tone (sounds more like speech)

  • Responds to simple spoken requests

  • Says “mama” and “dada”
     

Cognitive:

  • Uses senses to explore the immediate environment

  • Copies gestures

  • Begins to recognize people, objects, and animals in pictures and photographs
     

Movement/Physical Development:

  • Begins to move to explore immediate environment

  • Sits up and stands, with and without support

  • Begins to experiment with different ways of moving

  • Reaches for, grasps, and releases objects
